Acne are some of the most common skin problems; however, this doesn’t make them less annoying. If you are lucky enough to have found an acne cream that works, you are one step closer to getting rid of them. Still, you have to know how to apply it correctly. Here are a few tips that may help!

1. Don’t Use a Harsh Face Wash

A common mistake many people do is using a harsh face wash with their acne routine. Understandably, you want your acne gone as soon as possible, but this will actually make your skin red. It may even cause a burning sensation and peeling. Try finding a gentle face wash that is good for your skin type.

2. Use Moisturizer before Your Acne Cream

Moisturizer is something that most of us put on last, as we feel this will make our skin feel great. However, studies have shown that moisturizers can help you with acne cream’s side effects, such as redness or dry skin. At the same time, it won’t ruin the cream’s efficacy. Also, make sure you have the right nighttime moisturizer.

3. Don’t Use Too Much Cream

Most advertisements for skincare products show people soaking their faces with creams and serums. Believe it or not, but using too much cream doesn’t improve the efficacy of the product. It only serves as a means to force you to buy more product. The faster you spend your cream, the sooner you’ll have to buy a new one. A pea-size amount of cream is usually more than enough for your entire face, especially if you do it on your forehead, cheeks, and chin, then rub it all around.

4. Don’t Use an Entire Routine Everyday

If you use your acne cream every night, you may ruin your skin in the process. Your face needs some time to rest. Apply the products every other evening, and if you notice irritation, reduce it to using it every couple of days. As your skin builds up a tolerance, you’ll be able to increase this to daily usage.

5. Be Patient

When you are in a rush, you tend to make mistakes. The same goes for applying acne cream, as well. Proreview (a product review blog in Asia) say using too much cream, using it every evening, or being too harsh on your skin in any way won’t help your face get better. Be patient. It can take up to a few months for your acne to disappear.
